Quilting a single square is easier to handle. Quilt each square with top, batting and back, then put the sashing on to build the quilt together. This video will show you how to do the "quilt as you go" method making a 1" sashing boarder. Please note if your quilt square is made to have a 1/4" seam allowance this method may take away from the effect of the edges of the square as you will use 1/2...

One of the best tutorials on QAYG
Thank you so much for your comment and thanks for watching my tutorial!
Great video! I have the 1030 but basically the same
1130
hello very beautiful videos please kindly film how to operate the Bernina sewing machine electric foot pedal how its used to sew please kindly reply back ok?thank you very much
Tried the facing on the jacket, right sides together but it ended up with the lining on tge wrong side. No idea what i did wrong. Bagging out method worked well though.
Sorry this didn't work for you. Hope you will try again. The facing lays on top of the lining. Wrong side of facing to right side of lining. That is why you finish the inside edge of the facing.
Thank you. Will give it another go next time. I think what confused me is your facing looks the same both sides whereas mine has the jacket fabric. Also you mention right sides up then you say you are not doing right sides to wrong sides but you are!
@@katharman5399 sorry it was confusing for you.
Encantada com seu trabalho magnifico🥰❤
Excellent tricks to make it work
Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Thank you sooooo much! This is extremely helpful. My mother in law gave me this serger, and once I broke the thread, I was really stuck. Many thanks!!
Thank you for watching and I am so glad it was helpful!
This is the anatomy of lining bur jot fast and easy way to add lining. Respect to the teacher and information great for learning
Thanks so much!
Thank You so much!❤
You are so welcome! Thanks for viewing my youtube video!
Thank you SO MUCH !!!!!
I just acquired this machine, it was sold with no accessories. I just purchased the accessory box from eBay. There is a round pin on the back of the free arm on the right, is this supposed to retract so the box will slide on? I have found your videos very helpful.
Nothing will retract to get the accessory box on. Set the box even with the back and pull it forward. It should slide into the pin. Let me know if this does not work for you.
I also thought of something else. Make sure you are putting the box on with the opening toward the machine.
Thank you so much. I didn’t realize I had the box turned the wrong way! Thank you for responding.
so glad you figured it out!
THANK YOU, I have a different model but this is the tutorial I needed to both remove the accessory box and attach the slider table. There was nothing else like your quick lead in explanation!
Thanks for viewing my video. I am so glad it was helpful!
I have a completely different model, and it was still helpful. Thanks again!
girl I’m telling you I am pushing this button and it will not open
Hold the button down and pull the door open.
at the same time.
Thanks much for spending the time to prepare this. It was very helpful.
Thank you for viewing it! I'm glad it was helpful.
I think my foot pedal is not working. I plug it in, the lights come on but nothing happens when I push on the pedal.
I don't know which serger you have but if you take it to a dealer they might be able to fix the foot or replace it. Before you take it maybe try blowing out the port where you plug the foot control in - maybe something has made it so the plug isn't going all the way in.
Thank you for your help! It was greatly appreciated
thank you for taking the time to watch
Thanks ! (-;
I was looking for a method using 1/2 inch rather than 1/4 inch seams for the joining strips. Thank you very much - great tutorial!
Thank you for viewing my video!
Nice technique 😊
Thank you!!
Awesome thank you
Thank you so much for viewing the video!
Thank you for sharing that. I wish you had a done in a lighter fabric so you can see the understitching better. I'm struggling with trying to understitch.
Thank you for your comments and viewing the video.
All the years I’ve been sewing why didn’t I try this …. Well this is just what I wanted… beautiful
Thank you so much for viewing my video and your comments! Best Wishes!
What thread did you use in your bobbin? If you use the 12 wt in the needle, are you using it also in the bobbin?
Thank you for viewing the video. I did not use 12 wt in the bobbin. It was regular - 30 or 40 wt. With some machines you may need to loosen the upper tension when using 12 wt in the needle.
Thank you finnally found a quilter that made this easy to understand. 😊
Thank you for viewing my video
I can get the buttonhole foot to work, but the buttonholes don’t come out the same size. The more I make the smaller they get. I have the 1130 Bernina, but the buttonhole foot is the same.
Thanks for viewing my video. If you don't have interfacing or stabilizer of some kind between the layers of the fabric that could be the issue. Also you can use spray starch for some fabrics. Make sure you have a correct needle for the fabric. It can make a difference - cotton needs a sharp needle and knit a ballpoint. I think that might be your problem. You might also clean the top glass on the foot with a soft cloth and make sure you have the light on. If your bulb is burned out it won't pick up the reflection correctly. Hope this helps
Wow I never knew about rickrack! Looks fantastic, really cool and funky!
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
How do you remove the pressure foot?
At the back of the foot there is a lever. Pull up on the lever and pull down on the foot. The shank and all comes off. To insert place it up in position and pull the lever down. Notice when you come down with the lever there are 2 prongs that hold the foot on. It takes some getting used to but it is easier then screws! Thanks for the question and watching my video.
This is the best 'quilt as you go' video that I've seen. The instructions are clear and worked perfectly for me the first time. A huge thank you!
Thank you so much for watching and your kind comments! Best wishes in all your sewing!
BLESS YOUUUU FOR THIS!! Just thrifted this exact serger and kept getting stuck with the threading.
Thank you for watching! I am glad it helps! This is a great reliable machine!
Thank you for this video. I was shown how to do this a while back but I forgot how to do it! Its all come back to me, thank you 😊
Thank you for your comment! Best wishes.
What type of needles are they using?
80/12 universal this was for regular cotton fabric but you might check your machine info. Some sergers take a different needle brand made for their serger. There can be a slight difference in the scarf at the back of the needle. When serging 4 threads both needles need to be the same size - Also depending on the fabric you might need a ballpoint for knits or heavier fabrics may need a different size also.
oh i like this tutorial!! What size strips would you use to attach 6.5 inch blocks together QAYG? I'm finishing up Splendid Samper and would like to use this technique.
Thank you for your comment. The reason why I used a 2 and 3 inch strip is so I would have a wider sashing between the blocks. A 6.5" square is pretty small. You might need to test out a 1" wide and a 2" wide that would give you a narrower strip between the blocks But I suggest you test one out to see if you like it. Best wishes.
Hello, I am wondering if this will work with a jacket that has a cut on facing? I can’t picture how to do it, thank you so much 🙏
I would say this wouldn't be the easiest lining method with a cut on facing.
@@AllDunnDesigns Thank you, it figures that I would be making a jacket with cut on facing! Thanks again for sharing your technique 😋

i clicked for the 90's vibes. I subbed for the information xD. thanks :)
Hi what food is this called and what stitch do you use here ?
Like that you use bigger connecting strips. But i would stitch in the ditch as i go, so i dont have to roll up my row. Any special reason you dont?
I feel pressing is important before I stitch in the ditch. It just keeps better control of things. If it works for you do it! it will save time I am sure.
How to measure for a skirts
Thank you Patty. Very clear instructions. Now I know how and why to understitch.
I appreciate your comment and thank you for viewing my video!
Wow 💚🙋🏻♀️thank you so much for sharing this ..it's absolutely brilliant idea I had no clue how that was done ..looked great
Thank you so much for viewing my video and your kind words. Best wishes to you
Can you tell me which foot you are using that grabs the fabric to fold over the wire?
The best foot is the open toe foot that has nothing across the center of the foot. You can also use a cording foot or a 3 groove pin tuck foot. The secret is the part that is cut out underneath the foot
@@AllDunnDesigns thank you so much for the info. Do these fold the fabric over the wire as your sewing like the one in the video?
@@MBCreationss Here is a close up video I did at home and I am rolling and whipping the lace edge into the edge of the fabric. It is the same principle as inserting wire. Notice the fabric is in the center of the foot the lace (or wire) is slightly off to the left side. ua-cam.com/video/ClkXBWcUZFk/v-deo.html
That is very helpful. Thank you so much. I am so excited to try this this ❤️❤️❤️
I can't get it to work. It's really frustrating. I bought a cording foot and the wire won't go underneath into the groove and my needle keeps hurting the wire. I will just get a serger.
Ideally it would be better if you show the sewing with a block color as it’s very hard to see the sewing on pattern
Thank you for your comment.
Good to hear I had mine serviced recently. The mechanic said if the computer section goes in time they may not be able to fix. I would love a new machine but would like to keep on using my trusty 1230. Happy Sewing!
Just be sure not to plug it in the same outlet as you iron that goes on and off. My friend blew hers that way.
